How I Got Abs That Last

At 12, I took the decision to make my ABS stronger.


“I did not share my goal or decision with anyone. I did not need discussions or questions, or someone else’s opinion. No one was going to influence me, to steal my sense of accomplishment from me. After all, it was my dream. It belonged only to me. And this innocent little secret has proved useful to this day. ”

I desired that beautiful tight flat belly with definition lines. So I woke up 30 min earlier and did 3 sets of 20 straight crunches and 3 sets of 20 crunches to each side, resulting in a total of 180 crunches. It seemed a good amount to reach my goal.


Half-asleep and in pyjamas I moved directly from bed to the floor. Those 180 reps felt endless and my muscles burned, but in no way was I ready to give up. If I overcame that burning sensation it meant that I was winning. Every morning I was beating the odds and living up to the challenge. I felt like a champion and that feeling lasted throughout my day.


I did not share my goal or decision with anyone. I did not need discussions or questions, or someone else’s opinion. No one was going to influence me, to steal my sense of accomplishment from me. After all, it was my dream. It belonged only to me. And this innocent little secret has proved useful to this day. My decisions being only mine push me to never give up. I never go halfway. If I decide first for myself in my head, I have the inner power to make it to the end.


My daily early-morning routine yielded fast and durable results. My stomach got tighter and had that supple yet strong look I craved.


The other thing that I learned:


YOU WILL HAVE RESULTS IF YOU PERFORM YOUR CHOSEN TASK EVERY SINGLE DAY WITH NO EXCEPTIONS. YOU MUST IGNORE EVERY DETERRENT PSYCHOLOGICAL OR PHYSICAL. SUCCESS IS GUARANTEED ONLY BY DOING. ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THE DECISION TO ACT OR NOT TO ACT.


Years have passed since I started my ABS journey and I have learned tons of AB tricks along the way. I was a dancer, and dancing develops the ABS from inside, elongating them, creating a curving waistline, and providing a supple and flexible appearance.


I learned how to perfectly control my belly by doing Pilates. I started practicing as a student and afterwards I continued my journey through multiple certification trainings. By 24, I had added lots of quality work and science to my ABS routine. I was happy with my belly and considered my achievement irreversible.


However…


Pregnancy is a game changer! (Lots of women will agree with me.)


“[after pregnancy] My inexperienced mind was shocked when I could no longer zip my jeans up, and I had no muscle feeling whatsoever. Of course, I cried. It always helps a bit. But I made up my mind: I was not going to buy a new pair of jeans! Instead, I created a system to gradually get back to my previous state or even better abs.”

There is no way your belly will stay flat; I mean it’s biologically impossible. The best I could do for myself was to prevent stretch marks. I cared for my skin with religious devotion, consistently applying special cream each morning and evening. My decision was firm and no matter how tired I was, this procedure did not change.


It’s funny to say it now, knowing how it works, but then, I truly believed that after labour I would get back to normal within days. My inexperienced mind was shocked when I could no longer zip my jeans up, and I had no muscle feeling whatsoever. Of course, I cried. It always helps a bit. But I made up my mind: I was not going to buy a new pair of jeans! Instead, I created a system to gradually get back to my previous state or even better abs, starting with Pilates and continuing with a more difficult system of mixed-style exercises. My system worked. My abs got flatter, more cut, more developed. The feeling and control came back. I zipped my jeans. 


“I now know that I must analyze and prepare what I should do each day and it’s best to do it first thing in the morning.”

This was my conclusion: Do not give up before trying. Continuous effort always brings success, even if your first impression is that all is lost.


Of course I must add that correct nutrition plays a vital role in abdominal development, but this is a story for another time. 



I can tell you with certainty that:


  • I now know how to keep my abs always flat and fit and I also know that it does not matter if you gain a few extra pounds.

  • I now know that I must analyze and prepare what I should do each day and it’s best to do it first thing in the morning.

  • I really enjoy my own plan. It creates a sense of adventure.

  • I like to have my own dreams /goals.  They make me feel like a hero of my own story, full of adventure and fun. I love fun stuff.
